They've Brought A Cave Troll

The skin on the troll was started with a Mechanicus Standard grey base, which was then layered with a 50/50 of mech grey and Dawnstone. This was then layered with Dawnstone and washed with nuln oil. It doesn't look half bad, and is very simple to use. For the red, I used my patented red blend of Khorne red base, Wazdakka red/Khorne red mix, Wazdakka red layer, evil sunz scarlet layer and a wash of Carroburg crimson at the end.

The silver on the chains, and the hammer were painted with Leadbelcher, and then given a wash of nuln oil

That's it for me this week. I do apologize for not posting as often lately. I started an internship at an animal rehabilitation facility lately and haven't been able to make much time for painting, but soon I shall have a much larger piece to show next time, so stay tuned and beat the heat.

Deathly Trappings

Hello once again everyone, I hope you are all staying safe out there. Another week, another post. This week is about a death wizard I painted up for Age of Sigmar.

The Ivy was painted using waaagh! Flesh as a base, then a warboss green layer was added over top of that. This was then layered with a 50/50 mix of warboss green and sybarite green with a coelia greenshade wash afterwards. The whole thing was topped off with sybarite green edge highlights.

The skull on the hat was simply painted with a zandri dust base, an Ushabti bone layer and then a pallid wych flesh highlight and white scar edge highlight and a light wash of agrax earthshade.

The staff was painted with a rhinox hide base, a layer of 50/50 Rhinox hide and Mournfang brown, a layer of Mournfang brown, another 50/50 mix, this time of Mournfang brown and the Vallejo air White-Grey. A wash of agrax earthshade wash was applied and then a final edge highlight using the mix of Mournfang and White-Grey.

The red flowers were Khorne red, Wazdakka red, Evil Sunz Scarlet and then a light wash of carroburg to liven things up a bit. A highlight of evil sunz scarlet and Vallejo White-Grey was then applied to finish them off.

The purple flowers started as a Xereus purple base coat, with layers of a mix of xereus purple and Vallejo White-Grey continually added to each layer, a wash of druchii violet and a final edge highlight with the brightest mix of xereus purple and Vallejo White-Grey.

The gold bits were Warplock Bronze base, Gehenna's gold layer, a nuln oil wash and a highlight of Auric armour gold.

Finally, the cloak was a Russ grey base, layers of Fenrisian grey, and a 50/50 of Fenrisian grey and Lothern blue were applied. Then a layer of Ulthuan grey and Lothern blue was applied with Ulthuan grey edge highlights.

Oof that was a lot. I enjoyed painting this model because it was a lot of different things, and was a little bit of everywhere as far as colours go, which allowed me to experiment with using colours that I might normally not use as often. It also allowed me to mix paints that I might not normally think of mixing together, like the Fenrisian grey and Lothern blue. I like how it turned out.

That's it for me this week, I'll be back next week and I hope you all have a happy Easter.

A token of appreciation

Hello everyone, I hope your week was a good one. Today I am posting about a vostroyan guardsmen token. That's right, this fellow is an objective marker. Without further ado, here he is in all his deceased glory.

The red that I used on his arms and skirt thingy was my usual mix of red.

The brass was done with a Warplock Bronze base, with a brass scorpion layer, a wash of nuln oil, and an edge highlight of auric armour gold.

The boots were honestly just Abbadon black drybrushed heavily with dawnstone.

The green grenades and water canteen were just base coated with Deathworld forest and layered with Elysian green and washed Athonian camoshade.

It was a nice change to what I've been doing lately. That's it from me for now. Happy hobbying and I'll post again soon

Some genestealers

Hello everyone, I know it's been a bit since I've posted and I'm sure you've been wondering what disjointed project I'm working on this time. Well, today I have a semblance of order among all the chaos in that I painted a unit for my Genestealer cults. That's right, some genestealers. And I painted them just like my broodlord so that I can use them in conjunction with my Tyranids that I plan on repainting.

Here they are in all their gribbly glory

And so, 6 new genestealers are added to what will be a phenomenal tournament worthy force.

They were painted up just like my broodlord save for one difference. I used nuln oil instead of an Abaddon black wash.

That's it for me this week, until next time. Happy hobbying!

All over the place

I recently took a look back at my recent previous posts and I realized that I am all over the place with my hobbying right now. With Covid having forced many people into lockdown it's given a lot of us time for our hobbies, and clearing old projects from our shelves. In the spirit of being all over the place with my hobby today I present a model that had my painting scheme all over the place. I present to you all Festus the Leechlord

I tried to keep the entirety of the paint scheme rather simple, yet elegant as he is both a character model, and a model with a lot, and I do mean a lot, of detail.

I started the flesh tone with a Rakarth Flesh base, with a layer of a 50/50 mix of Rakarth and Ungor flesh. I then followed this with a layer of the aforementioned mix with pallid wych flesh in a 50/50 combintion. Once dry I washed the fleshy bits with watered down Athonian Camoshade wash and then finished with an edge highlight of the last mix, and then another edge highlight of just Pallid Wych Flesh.

The skin of the unfortunate victim that Festus is holding, and the half rotting corpses in his backpack (for lack of a better word) also started with a base of Rakarth Flesh, a layer of a 50/50 mix of Rakarth Flesh and Warpstone glow, which then had Sybarite green mixed in a 50/50 combination afterwards for the next layer. This mix then had Pallid Wych Flesh added for the final highlights and was then washed with watered down Druchii Violet.

The viscera and the sores were painted very similarly. To start these off I began with a base of Wazdakka Red, promptly followed by a layer of a 50/50 mix of Wazdakka and Evil Sunz Scarlet. These areas were then washed with Carroburg Crimson and then layered with a 50/50 mix of Evil Sunz Scarlet and Pink Horror. From here we diverge in our scheme, as the viscera (that is the intestines and whatnot) are given a rough highlight with a 25/25/50 mix of Pink Horror, Dawnstone and White Scar (in that order). The sores are once again washed with Carroburg Crimson to finish those off.

The fleshy sack at the bottom of Festus' pack, and the intestine on the side started with the mix of Pink Horror, Dawnstone and White Scar, which then had more White Scar added to it for a highlight. This was then washed with Carroburg Crimson and then highlighted with the previous mix.

The various little buboes on Festus were fairly simple. Start with Dawnstone as a base, and layer with a 50/50 mix of Dawnstone and Xereus Purple. Then highlight by adding White Scar to the mix in increments until the colour is noticably lighter.

That's it for me this week, until next time. Stay safe and happy hobbying.

The Fuzziest of Chieftains

Hello once again everyone, I hope you are all doing well out there in this pandemic. I recently did some cleaning in my hobby closet, organizing armies, finding projects long forgotten. You know, the usual when cleaning out any hobby area. While cleaning I had found an old metal warg chieftain for The Lord Of The Rings miniature wargame from Games Workshop, and I decided I would paint it up as best as I could, and so here it is in all of its fuzzy glory

The fur was relatively simple. I started with a basecoat of Rhinox hide, and then drybrushed with Mournfang brown for all of the model, washed with Agrax Earrthshade and then drybrushed again with Mournfang brown. I didn't stop there however, as I wanted this guy to look older, like it's seen some years and so I drybrushed the mane with a light dusting of Dawnstone to give it that aged look.

The fur less legs I started with Rakarth flesh and then layered with screaming skull. Afterwards I applied a wash of agrax earthshade watered down, and then once that was dry I applied another light layer of screaming skull, and then highlighted with a mix of white scar and screaming skull.

The scarred areas were also very easy. I applied the skin scheme that I just used and on top of that applied a light drybrush of Pink Horror, a drybrush of pink horror mixed white scar in a 50/50 ratio, and then finally drybrushed very lightly with a 50/50 mix of white scar and the previous mix.

Finally we come to the deceased fellow on the base, that poor old rohirrim. For his cloak I started with a base of Caliban green, used a 50/50 mix of caliban and waagh flesh layered on top, then had a final layer of waagh flesh, with a wash of coelia greenshade afterwards. To top it all off I edge highlighted the cloak with waagh flesh.

Everything else on the fellow was rather basic and probably doesn't need explanation, however if there are any questions as to how I did any of the colours on this model just put it in the comments below and I'll let you know asap.

Until next time friends, hobby on and stay safe out there.

A lord needs troops

Lately I've been working on my Flesh Eater Courts army, and I have many a ghoul laying about. To remedy that I decided to paint up a good few, and so here are some pictures that I thought everyone might enjoy.

Flesh-Eater Courts Ghoul King and Ghouls painted in jaundiced flesh tones

As you can see, I have been a little bit busy. The skin colour is the same as my Vampire, to keep consistency throughout the colour scheme of the force, and you'll also notice that some of their hair is coloured differently. This is to help keep track of them on the battlefield as there will be separate units, and keeping track of everything that looks the same is a bit of a pain. It also doesn't hurt to have a bit of variety so that I don't lose my marbles when painting lots of these little guys up.

That's my post for today, I hope you've enjoyed this update on my Flesh Eater Courts army, and there will be more to come. Happy hobbying and stay safe out there.
