The Fuzziest of Chieftains

Hello once again everyone, I hope you are all doing well out there in this pandemic. I recently did some cleaning in my hobby closet, organizing armies, finding projects long forgotten. You know, the usual when cleaning out any hobby area. While cleaning I had found an old metal warg chieftain for The Lord Of The Rings miniature wargame from Games Workshop, and I decided I would paint it up as best as I could, and so here it is in all of its fuzzy glory

The fur was relatively simple. I started with a basecoat of Rhinox hide, and then drybrushed with Mournfang brown for all of the model, washed with Agrax Earrthshade and then drybrushed again with Mournfang brown. I didn't stop there however, as I wanted this guy to look older, like it's seen some years and so I drybrushed the mane with a light dusting of Dawnstone to give it that aged look.

The fur less legs I started with Rakarth flesh and then layered with screaming skull. Afterwards I applied a wash of agrax earthshade watered down, and then once that was dry I applied another light layer of screaming skull, and then highlighted with a mix of white scar and screaming skull.

The scarred areas were also very easy. I applied the skin scheme that I just used and on top of that applied a light drybrush of Pink Horror, a drybrush of pink horror mixed white scar in a 50/50 ratio, and then finally drybrushed very lightly with a 50/50 mix of white scar and the previous mix.

Finally we come to the deceased fellow on the base, that poor old rohirrim. For his cloak I started with a base of Caliban green, used a 50/50 mix of caliban and waagh flesh layered on top, then had a final layer of waagh flesh, with a wash of coelia greenshade afterwards. To top it all off I edge highlighted the cloak with waagh flesh.

Everything else on the fellow was rather basic and probably doesn't need explanation, however if there are any questions as to how I did any of the colours on this model just put it in the comments below and I'll let you know asap.

Until next time friends, hobby on and stay safe out there.
