All over the place

I recently took a look back at my recent previous posts and I realized that I am all over the place with my hobbying right now. With Covid having forced many people into lockdown it's given a lot of us time for our hobbies, and clearing old projects from our shelves. In the spirit of being all over the place with my hobby today I present a model that had my painting scheme all over the place. I present to you all Festus the Leechlord

I tried to keep the entirety of the paint scheme rather simple, yet elegant as he is both a character model, and a model with a lot, and I do mean a lot, of detail.

I started the flesh tone with a Rakarth Flesh base, with a layer of a 50/50 mix of Rakarth and Ungor flesh. I then followed this with a layer of the aforementioned mix with pallid wych flesh in a 50/50 combintion. Once dry I washed the fleshy bits with watered down Athonian Camoshade wash and then finished with an edge highlight of the last mix, and then another edge highlight of just Pallid Wych Flesh.

The skin of the unfortunate victim that Festus is holding, and the half rotting corpses in his backpack (for lack of a better word) also started with a base of Rakarth Flesh, a layer of a 50/50 mix of Rakarth Flesh and Warpstone glow, which then had Sybarite green mixed in a 50/50 combination afterwards for the next layer. This mix then had Pallid Wych Flesh added for the final highlights and was then washed with watered down Druchii Violet.

The viscera and the sores were painted very similarly. To start these off I began with a base of Wazdakka Red, promptly followed by a layer of a 50/50 mix of Wazdakka and Evil Sunz Scarlet. These areas were then washed with Carroburg Crimson and then layered with a 50/50 mix of Evil Sunz Scarlet and Pink Horror. From here we diverge in our scheme, as the viscera (that is the intestines and whatnot) are given a rough highlight with a 25/25/50 mix of Pink Horror, Dawnstone and White Scar (in that order). The sores are once again washed with Carroburg Crimson to finish those off.

The fleshy sack at the bottom of Festus' pack, and the intestine on the side started with the mix of Pink Horror, Dawnstone and White Scar, which then had more White Scar added to it for a highlight. This was then washed with Carroburg Crimson and then highlighted with the previous mix.

The various little buboes on Festus were fairly simple. Start with Dawnstone as a base, and layer with a 50/50 mix of Dawnstone and Xereus Purple. Then highlight by adding White Scar to the mix in increments until the colour is noticably lighter.

That's it for me this week, until next time. Stay safe and happy hobbying.
