These past few weeks I’ve really been getting into X-wing,
the miniatures game from Fantasy Flight games. I’ve played the game before, but
these past few weeks have really gotten me into it. I had been building a few
lists a couple weeks before, and I asked a buddy of mine, who’s played the game
before, if he’d be interested in having a game or two, he agreed and then we
thought of another person to join us, as he’s really into star wars as well,
but had never played the game. So that day we got together at my buddy’s place,
had a couple games and caught up. It was a blast, re-learning the game for
myself and my bud, and teaching the game to our other bud. It was such a good
time that we made plans for that following Sunday to do it again at our other
buddy’s place and once again we had a blast. So now, I’ve been building lists
and would like to share a few here. Perhaps later on there will be some battle
reports (once I get a new camera). But for now, let the list building commence!
I’d like to try and get a few lists posted every week or so,
just to get myself into the habit of posting on a regular basis, rather than
what I’ve previously been doing, which is post sporadically whenever.
Recently, my birthday came to pass and a friend of mine gave
me an arc-170 as a gift, so I shall start off with some rebel lists with an arc
or two.
The first one I’d like to try out is a list with Braylen
Stramm.
Braylen Stramm:
Tail
gunner
R2D2
Vectored
Thrusters
Alliance
Overhaul
Ibitsam
Proton
Torpedoes
Jan Ors
Moldy
Crow
Recon
Specialist
Blaster
Turret
100 points
The basic plan is to have Braylen draw fire while being able
to regenerate his shields and get out of harm’s way with the vectored thrusters
while Jan can generate focus tokens for the blaster turret and Ibitsam can run
in and blast away whomever Braylen starts drawing fire from. I think it’s a
decent list, but it’s not as gimmicky as I’d like, but I think my next list
will scratch that itch.
I think I’ll call this list the “Freedom” or the “Fire at
will”. Not sure yet.
Rebel Operative
Recon
Specialist
Blaster
Turret
Lando Calrissian
Millenium
Falcon
Nien
Nunb
Thane Kyrell
R5-K6
Vectored
Thrusters
Alliance
Overhaul
Proton
Torpedoes
100 points
The whole premise of this list is that Lando gives out free
actions, and Thane gets a free action whenever an enemy ship inside his firing
arc attacks another friendly ship, creating free actions for either the rebel
operative, or Thane if he needs a free action. The rebel operative is there to both
draw fire from lando and Thane, with the blaster turret and recon specialist it’ll
do some damage, hopefully, and still get to benefit from free actions that it
could potentially get from Lando. Thane is there for the free actions he can
give himself, hopefully deter or make opponents think twice before getting near
him and whomever he’s near and giving him a potential free action. Lando will
also be able to get into the thick of fighting with his 360 degree arc of fire
and decent durability, he’ll likely be in the position to be giving thane his
free actions, and Thane will be able to attack whomever it is that’s coming
after the other two, and will be able to get into position with his vectored thrusters,
with the alliance overhaul he’ll be able to get in an extra attack dice and let
him hopefully get some damage done when he doesn’t have a target lock an enemy
ship. This is the basic plan for this list and I’d like to try it soon.
I’ll need to get a few games in with these lists in order to
actually mete them out and get a better idea for how they play, but I think I’ll
be getting some games in the very near future. Regardless, there may be some modifications to
these lists in the future, I’ll just have to keep playing and see what works.
