Ahoy Me Harties! There Be a Reef Troll Here!

Oh my goodness! What is this? Why it's a Reef Troll!

I decided to go with a dark green skin colour for my trolls, and so far it's making this guy look a whole lot like a green sea turtle. It's coming along really well so far and I can't wait to show you all what he looks like with all the bells and whistles painted up!

I want to try and get the trolls I have so far done by the time I get my order of Brinebloods that came out a couple days ago! I'm really excited to see the new models (particularly the Pyg galley crew, those look like fun to paint up!)

Alright everyone, have a phenomenal week and I hope to get another post up in the next few days!

What's Next? August Edition!

Hello again everyone and thanks for coming on down! I'm previewing what's coming up next in the blog! I'm going to try and do a wip Monday every week!

Oh yes indeed, those are Brineblood Marauders you see! I also have an unboxing video for that, and I'll be releasing that shortly! My first ever unboxing, likely on YouTube, that I will link here! How exciting!

That's also most certainly a Battletech command Lance you see before you! Oh I'm very excited to get all of this painted up!

A Passion Project

I'll have to take some better pictures from my light box, but for now (due to unforseen and unfortunate circumstances) this will have to do for now.

I tried to paint the bird parts like that of a red tailed hawk, and the back half as a cheetah. Two animals that are very dear to my heart. The red tailed hawk because when I interned at a wildlife rehabilitation facility I was an absolute treat to be able to care for this critter, and the Cheetah because I would like nothing more than to go to Namibia and work for the Cheetah Project, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring the survival of the Cheetah species.

Much of the Cheetah fur colour was created using Zandri Dust layer paint from Citadel paint, and then adding white slowly layering up to the colour you see in the top pictures there. I feel like I need to perhaps try to get more depth into the model somehow but in all honesty I'm uncertain how to do that on such a flat surface right now.

I made all of the stone structures on the base myself. I sculpted them using an oven bake clay and shaping them to look like ornate pillars had fallen in a baren land. For the cylindrical part of the pillar I simply rolled it out with a long piece of plasticard lengthwise in order to get the length I needed. I then cut off the ends on both sides and then smashed it up a bit after baking to get the effects you see.

The stone spheres there were just balls of oven bake clay that were cut (very carefully I might add) so that I could stick them on the base and have them look ruined and broken.

That's all for today. Hopefully you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments what you think, comments l, questions and concerns are always welcome.
